Additional GARMIN 010-00522-00 Streetpilot C550 GPS Receiver Information

StreetPilot c550 comes ready to go right out of the box with preloaded City Navigator NT street maps, including a hefty points of interest (POIs) database with hotels, restaurants, fuel, ATMs and more. Simply touch the super-bright sunlight-readable color screen to enter a destination, and the c550 takes you there with 2D or 3D maps and turn-by-turn voice directions. It even announces the name of exits and streets so you never have to take your eyes off the road. In addition, the c550 accepts custom points of interest (POIs), such as school zones and safety cameras and lets you set proximity alerts to warn you of upcoming POIs. The European version even includes a preloaded safety camera database containing the location of safety cameras for parts of Europe. Talk about worry-free driving. The c550 integrates Bluetooth wireless technology with a built-in microphone and speaker, so you can pair it with your compatible Bluetooth phone and talk hands-free through the c550 while staying focused on the road. Now there's no more fumbling with your phone's handset to answer a call or dial a number -- just tap the c550's screen and you're connected. With 1-touch dialing for POIs, you can conveniently call ahead for reservations or information.

What Customers Say About GARMIN 010-00522-00 Streetpilot C550 GPS Receiver:

I bought this a year ago because of all the excellent reviews on Amazon. In the city it will take me through all kinds of small side streets when there is a major street right next to it that goes directly to my destination. The unit itself works fine and does a lot of good things but there is one thing it does not do well: plot routes. I don't know what it is about this unit but it seems to take the strangest routes. And then to make it even more weird it does not always take the same route. I can start from the same location and going to the same destination and this unit will take me on two different routes. So maybe the newer Garmins are decent but I definitely cannot recommend this one.

As far as I know none of the Garmin GPS's can adjust for the time zone switch automatically. I've owned the Garmin Street Pilot 550 now for 2 years and it is a great GPS. My cell phone shifts time zones automatically, so why can't the Garmin GPS. The only weakness I have found, and this is a minor one, is that the clock that computes arrival time does not automatically adjust for varying time zones. I live in the Eastern Time Zone (EST) but travel regularly to the CTZ (CST). As I said, this is a minor irritant, but one it seems Garmin could and should easily correct. As far as I know they haven't done so with the newer Garmin models.

This product is the best. You must update the maps via web before you use it because the default does not have all the roads.

or so,right. the product itself is great(i've owned one before).the only drawback is when one orders the item but is delivered a different receiver.i believe in the unit strongly enough however,to,after sendin' it back to memory suppliers,to ask for them to send the correct one back to me;giving them a second opportunity to get it right(ha,or screw it up again).i do believe it was a mistake in the warehouse picking process(those personnel are highly underrated)which frankly i'm surprised doesn't happen more often.it's only been a mo. and a half since the original order went in,so what's another mo. go,ms,go. i am very much lookin' forward to getting it here sooner than later,as it was gifted for a birthday in early april.oh,before i forget;before your cs representative calls to confirm the items,be sure to ask for the one that actually purchased it.the one for whom it was intended intercepted that message instead of me(surprise bd gift was revealed to them and not much of a surprise after that).

I like the product but the map update download is rediculously priced. Updates should be free or at least reasonable. $69. no - too much.
